You don't have to spend much time on the Internet these days to see that video is a BIG deal. And it's easy to see why. Video lets you connect with your future customers and show off your art or handmade products in their best light.

But as an artist, maker, or designer, adding video into your marketing strategy can be incredibly overwhelming. What kinds of video should you start with? How do you create them? What if you're totally camera shy? And how do you find the time to make video with everything else you've got going on?

Well that's where I come in!

Hi, I'm Megan Auman, designer, metalsmith, and educator!

As a working artist myself, I know the challenges and demands that come with trying to find the time (and energy) to market your work. Which is why, as a teacher, I'm always looking to create simple, easy solutions that boost your business without taking up tons of time.

I know how overwhelming creating video for the web can be, which is why I created this class to make the process simple and actionable.

In The 30 Day Video Boost: Product Page Edition, I'll help you get started with creating incredible videos for your product pages (that you can also use in other places across the web) using the tools and equipment you already have at hand. (That's right, no fancy camera or editing software required! All you need is your smart phone.)

Why focus on videos for your product pages?

Video is everywhere on the web these days, so you might be wondering why this class is just about creating video for your product pages! There are three reasons we're focusing this class specifically on video for your product pages:

1. Avoid overwhelm.

When you think about creating video for EVERYWHERE, it's easy to get overwhelmed and do nothing! By focusing specifically on creating video for your product pages, you'll find it easier to jump in and focus, when means you'll get more done. And since more and more platforms (from e-commerce platforms like Shopify to wholesale platforms like Faire) are enabling native video on product pages, there's never been a better time to start creating video for your product pages.

2. Increase conversion.

Nothing lets you simulate the experience of in person shopping quite like video. Whether that's simply showing off your product in three dimensions (without ever having to show up on screen yourself), showing movement, or sharing what you love about a particular piece, adding video to a product page is one of the best ways to encourage people to buy.

3. Work smarter, not harder.

Just because you made a video for your product page initially doesn't mean you can't share it other places as well. Once you've developed the habit of creating product page videos, you'll also learn the best ways to share them around the web, from social media to Pinterest to your blog or email list! So even though you're starting your strategy focused on product page videos, in the end, you'll have a whole bank of content you can use across the web.

There are lots of ways you could be using video to market your business, but starting with your product pages lets you focus on getting the most impact with the least amount of work! And that's what The 30 Day Video Boost is all about!

In The 30 Day Video Boost, you'll....

  • Discover new types of product page videos each week so you can determine which types of videos work best for you and your product.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What kind of equipment do I need for this class? Do I need a fancy camera? What about editing software?

You do not need a fancy camera for this class, it's designed to be done just using the video camera on your smartphone! Of course, if you have another camera you love, you're more than welcome to use it, but when when it comes to quickly and easily making great video, your smartphone really is the best option! And in this class, we'll focus on using the basic editing software that comes with your phone, plus an inexpensive app or two to make editing easier.

You will also want a tripod to secure your smartphone, and depending on your space, some simple, inexpensive additional lighting, which we will talk about in the class itself!

Will video work for the kind of art/craft/products I make?

The short answer is yes! In this class, we'll be covering how to make video work for everything from two-dimensional products like paintings and prints to three-dimensional products like ceramics and sculpture to wearable products like jewelry and textiles. The goal with this class is to help you find the types of video that work for you and your products!

I’m not comfortable appearing/talking on camera.  Can I still create video for my product pages?

Yes! We'll actually start the class focusing on lots of different types of videos that don't require you to be in them at all! There are a few types of videos I'll share in this class that might involve you appearing or talking on camera, but you can simply opt to focus on the other types. That being said, I'll also share tips and tricks for getting comfortable on camera, in case you want to give it a try!

I'm not comfortable sharing videos of my process. Do I have to do that in this class?

Nope! I'm also not a fan of sharing my process online, which is why this class is all about showing your art or handmade products from the perspective of the customer! In this program, you'll focus on creating videos that show what it's like to use and live with your products, not videos that show people how they're made.

I'm not sure if my website allows video on product pages. Can this still work for me?

First off, there are lots of platforms that do allow video. Shopify, Etsy, Faire, and many others all allow for native video on product pages. But if you happen to be on a platform that doesn't allow native video, we'll also cover how to embed video from platforms like YouTube or Vimeo directly into your product pages.

Can I use the videos I create for this class on more than just my product pages?

Absolutely! In the class, I'll also cover all the other places you can use the videos that you create for your product pages, including social media, your blog, your email list, and anywhere else you might want to use them!

Will this class teach me how to use Reels/TikTok/YouTube etc?

This class doesn't cover all the various video platforms, but you will create videos that can also be used on these platforms. (And you'll get a handy cheat sheet with the different video length requirements for each platform.)

Does this class cover live video?

Because this class focuses on creating video for product pages, the focus is on pre-recorded video, not live video. You can certainly apply much of what you learned to create live videos, but we won't be discussing them specifically in this class.

Does it matter what part of the world I'm in?

Nope! You can take this class from anywhere as long as you have Internet access that allows you to stream data.

What do I need to access the lessons?

You will need a computer or mobile device with Internet. (While you can watch the lessons on your phone, I’d recommend a computer or tablet so you can see the content a little better!)

How long will I have access to the material?

You have have lifetime access to the material from the moment you join! You can work through the course at your own pace or revisit any lesson as often as needed. You'll also have access to any course updates.

How are payments handled?

You can pay securely using your credit card or PayPal. For the payment plan option, you must use a credit card.

If you are opting for the payment plan, your first payment will be charged immediately, the second one month later, and the third and final payment will be one month after that.

Have other questions? Still wondering if this class is right for you?

Feel free to shoot me an email at megan@craftmba.com with your questions! I’m happy to answer them!
